HSK Level 6
HSK Level VI assesses the test-taker’s ability to apply Mandarin Chinese in daily life. Those who pass HSK Level VI can easily comprehend written and spoken information in Mandarin and can express themselves effectively in Mandarin, both orally and in writing.
HSK Level VI is intended for students who have mastered 5,000 or more commonly used words.
HSK 6 Test Structure
I. Listening
There are 15 items in Section I. The recording for each item will be played only once. For each item, a short passage will be read, and 4 possible answers will be provided on the test paper. Test-takers must choose the answer that best fits the passage.
There are 15 items in Section II. The recording for each item will be played only once. The recording, consisting of three interviews, will be played followed by 5 questions. For each question, 4 possible answers will be provided, from which test-takers can choose the best answer based on what they hear in the section.
There are 20 items in Section III. The recording for each item will be played only once. Several readings will be read, each followed by several questions. For each question, 4 possible answers will be provided, from which test-takers can choose the best answer based on what they hear in the section.
II. Reading
There are 10 items in Section I. Each item consists of 4 sentences. Test-takers must choose the sentence with grammatical errors.
There are 10 items in Section II. Each item consists of a short passage with 3-5 blank parts. Test-takers must choose the best answer from 4 possible options based on the context.
There are 10 items in Section III. There are two readings, each with 5 blank parts. Test-takers must choose the best answer from 5 sentences based on the context.
There are 20 items in Section IV. This section consists of several readings followed by several questions. Test-takers must choose the correct answer from 4 possible options.
